I have been researching various film companies that would be suitable to show in our trailer - from these we have settled on showing that our movie won the 'British Independant Movie award'. we also designed our own logo for the 'Spartan movie studios'.
As a group we have also decided to put in comments made by British newspapers ie/
Mesmerizing ***** says Guardian .
oxide and Neutrinio , Kano p's and Q's (instrumental) and Kano Hustler - are going to be our main songs during the course of our trailer.
I have also found a very useful website called www.snap.com - which has a vast selection of sounds that we could use for any part of our trailer.
We have nearly finished recording our complete movie trailer. This week we recorded in town by the Brindley place . This was a incredibly difficult shoot , due to weather conditions. However we were able to find a perfect location and get very useful and interesting shots to show the victims mental journey and the events that take place after it. We were very lucky to find a dark and dingy place with a good source of lighting. Whilst filming these shots we discovered the use of interesting angles that we could use to highlight the props that we made for our trailer.
I will be uploading these pictures to my blog sometime during this week. Today We are going to shoot by college in the alleyway , where mobeen is going to kill the main bully . We have been extra careful planning these shots, because we have had to consider weather conditions and lighting , cast commitements ext, in order to maximise our success.
Furthermore in my opinion this week has been fairly productive and our editing is also well on its way , and know we are looking to complete all our filming.

During the production process , my main job has been to organise sound. The songs that I think will be most appropriate for our trailer are - Shyshtie - adulthood soundtrack ,
Lethal Bizzle

The new 'One day ' trailer was also very interesting to watch and has given us another source of inspiration. As did the Birmingham university location where we shot our first few shots.
We are planning to complete our trailer this week, in order to do this we need to shoot intensely over this next week.
due to techniqal difficulties , we will have to re shoot some of our existing footage because it was too shaky and not clear enough.
we had a change in or cast line up due to some of our original actors not being able to make it to the shoots. our cast now is - The bullies : Aqib , Zakariya , Asad and saif.
and the victims : Mobeen and wadud.
While shooting we also found that the use of two camaras was very useful as each camera gave us a unique dimension and a diverse range of shots.

Monday 9th Nov - Friday 13th Nov

This week we have completely organised the schedule and step outline of our production.
We had a meeting at Thursday 12th of November to finalise the step outline and structure of our shooting , this meeting was productive as we also got a chance to discuss final locations and adjusments to cast members.
On friday me and yasser visted Birmingham University in order to see exactly where we were going to shoot. This was really useful as we gotto explore the university and see were we would be able to get our best shots and which locations would fit our brief well.
Were going to begin our filming tomorrow morning at our first location . We hope to get half our main shots completed tomorrow due to the full day advantage that we have.

This week we have successfully co ordinate the next few steps that our group is going to be taking in order to create a successful 3minute trailer.
We have distributed responsibilities for example it is my job to write the step outline and script as well as schedule our filming times.
I have begun work on the final script and i have completed the step outline . As a group we have nearly finished making our final adjustments to the shot by shot planning we did , just leaving us to adjust a few undecided camera angles on the first and 15th shots.
We had a meeting last Friday were we discussed locations and saw pictures of possible sets that Wadud (who is primarily in charge of finding locations), we now need to go see the locations we have shortlisted and make the final decisions as a group.
we also discussed props and organized a car that will be essential to the flow of our trailer. This responsibility has mainly been given to Yaser who will be organizing the timings that the car will be available.
Furthermore, this week has been pretty productive and has mainly been devoted to organising key elements of the trailer. We intend to start the practical elements of our trailer from week commencing the 9th November.

Inspirations

The main inspirations for our trailer have been , Adulthood and Brick .

Adulthood - due to the inner city feel of the movie and especially the trailer. We found the use of costume and music really effective in the Adulthood trailer and therefore decided to use a similar concept for our own trailer.

Brick- After watching the Brick trailer we had a much more clearer outlook on what we wanted our own trailer to look like. This was due to the effective yet do able shots that the trailer used, alongside certain motifs and props that it used. For example in the Brick trailer a character is playing with a rub-ix cube and in our trailer we used this as an inspiration for making our protagonist play sudoku

Below are links to the Brick and adulthood trailer so that you can take a look yourselves and get a real feel for our ideas .

General feel of the trailer

The main character of our movie trailer will be played by Mobeen Nawaz , who we thought will fit the brief of the victim well . The innocence and body structure will be effective in showing the victims personality , especially compared to the much bigger bully's that were going to use.

The music is going to be mainly grime in order to reflect the setting which will be inner city Birmingham. We decided to use this setting as we believe that it will be the most realistic and therefore most effective. Furthermore the costumes of the characters and the general Mise-en-scene of the movie is also going to show portray this outlook.

Furthermore the locations we are planning to use are also places that you would realistically find teenagers in , for example - college , library and parks.

A2 coursework - Trailer

We have decided to call our movie trailer - 'Over The Line'

Synopsis

The movie that the trailer is going to be set on is about a teenage boy who gets bullied . Its his journey of how he turns from the victim into the murderer .
In the beginning it seems that the young boy will never be able to fend for himself however when he finds himself in a one on one confrontation with the bully in an alley way (the changing point of the trailer) his whole persona changes as he picks up a brick and kills the bully. After this point we want most of the rest of the trailer to be a montage of scenes as the young boy and his friend dispose of the body.
We also want to show the viewers the psychological change that the victim goes through by showing that he has some sort of anxiety , where going to portray this through showing the boy endlessly completing sudoku's.
After the montage the trailer is going to slow down again , and the two boys ( the victim and his friend) are walking away from the bridge where they disposed of the body into water. Meanwhile a news reporter is announcing that a local boy has gone missing .
We then want the cut the trailer at a slight hangover. Playing some grime music while the name and release date of the movie appears.

RESEARCH

I completed all my research last week in order to achieve the best website I could that would be easy to use, interactive and informative.
In my research I made of a questionnaire which consisted of ten quantitative and five qualitative questions. I handed out this questionnaire to twenty Joseph chamberlain students, 9 of which were male and 10 of which were female both aged from 16-19.
The reason why I selected a mixed amount of boys and girls of a similar age group is because the website which I am creating is for a new rock band and teenagers tend to be the most popular market for this genre. Once I had collected this data I analysed it to ensure I could meet the target audiences’ requirements. I then started my secondary research. I collected this type of data over the internet by analysing three other rock band websites, I analysed:

special effects
typography
graphics
colour scheme
editing and sound
representation
anchorage

By using both primary and secondary research I will use the data to create the website. Within this week I have started to create the bare skeleton of my website. I have played around with both Adobe Dreamweaver & Photoshop. I will use Dreamweaver to create my website and display my information and I will use Adobe Photoshop to create/make images.I know need to design and create my navigation bar and take pictures of all the band members.

I will be exploring the music industry and the key aspects in relation to the ‘music act’ website. The website that I have been exploring is ‘www.coldplay.com’. This website has many graphics which are of an interactive and informative nature this makes the website look very professional. In addition, this website is very helpful and is good for any Coldplay fans or any new users to explore. The company that has designed the ‘www.coldplay.com’ the new bands new albums name is used as the focal point for all the features and the design of the whole website. This is done by creating interactive graphics which try to portray an old traditional style yet with a hint of modern day culture which is all about ‘Viva La Vida’ – the group’s new albums name.

GENRE AND CONVENTIONS

Different music groups have different music genres; the website for the band must reflect the genre of the band’s music. As the audience will expect to see images and styles which reflect that specific genre. ‘
‘Rock’ music is usually associated with Goth and evil beings therefore; the audience may expect to see some post modern graphics to portray the darkness. The colour scheme of the website will be most suited to be monochrome colours such as white, blacks and greys, as this will be best suited with the genre of the bands music. They also try to incorporate primary colours to cause some contrast on the website. This is evident on the Tokio Hotel ‘website. For example the music category of ‘Pop’, the audience may expect to see some animation/graphics as ‘Pop’ is generally aimed at a younger audience. The audience will also expect to see the primary colours incorporated somewhere within the website for example; the background, text, banner, graphics etc again this is aimed towards a younger audience. This is evident on ‘Girls aloud’ website. Finally, In the case of the ‘RnB’, the audience may expect to see some modern and high profile photography of the artist(s) as ‘RnB’ music is generally aimed at an more universal audience which could be consisting of people of all ages. The audience will expect the colour scheme of the website to be bright and bold colours, which help to create the harsh images of money and girls. Some of the colours that maybe used are gold’s and chocolate browns etc. This is evident on the ‘50cent’ website. In conclusion I have found that the way the website is portrayed gives a direct perception of what the band’s music and genre is.
